Alleged attacker maintains innocence
A Bath man has pleaded “not guilty” to assaulting four corrections officers at Two Bridges Regional Jail in Wiscasset.
Kelby Hampson, 20, entered the pleas in Lincoln County Superior Court September 27, to four counts of assault on an officer. A grand jury indicted him September 11.
Justice Donald Marden kept bail at $10,000. Hampson is currently being held in Kennebec County on a separate matter, his lawyer Lisa Whittier said. His next appearance in the Wiscasset case was tentatively set for October 3.
On May 22, Hampson kicked Officer Timothy Willette in the face, punched Officer Paul Rubashkin in the face several times, kicked Officer Eric Major in the head, and spat on Officer James Bailey, Sheriff's Lt. Mike Murphy said.
Hampson has had three assault convictions since 2011, according to court documents.
