Alleged illegal possession of guns, gold, heroin
A man who allegedly had guns, heroin and stolen African coins in his possession has been arrested.
Kevin King, 53, of Waldoboro, was charged with a trio of felonies by the Waldoboro Police Department.
Waldoboro Police Officer Christopher Spear wrote in his Nov. 15 arrest report that he was tipped off after receiving a report that King had allegedly been in possession of firearms and the gold coins.
During his investigation Spear was in contact with the Jupiter Florida Police Department, where King had been arrested for the alleged theft of 490 Kuggerrands, or African gold coins. Spear also wrote that during his investigation he discovered that King is allegedly a felon and is barred from owning or possessing a firearm.
Spear was able to execute a search warrant on King's Bremen Road residence on Nov. 17; during the search, officers allegedly found multiple guns, including two that were loaded, and a large amount of ammunition.
Agents also reportedly found an envelope that contained a powder that, when sent to the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency, allegedly tested positive for heroin.
King was arrested and transported to the Waldoboro Police Department then Two Bridges Regional Jail.
King was charged with three Class C felonies: possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, possession of stolen goods and possession of a scheduled drug. Class C crimes are punishable by up to five years in prison and up to $5,000.
King was held on $25,000 bail, and will have a court date Jan. 11. He was court-ordered to neither possess nor use alcohol and illegal drugs.
