Learn how to build a dry stone wall
A dry stone walling workshop will be held October 5-6 on the grounds of the Nequasset Meetinghouse in Woolwich.
This is a two-day workshop, which will construct a permanent installation of a traditional dry stone wall on the grounds of the 1757 Nequasset Meetinghouse.
The workshop is designed to teach homeowners and tradespeople the structural techniques that will help them construct long lasting and beautiful dry stone walls. The hands on workshop will prepare students for their own projects as well as train their eyes to identify proper walling techniques in other dry stone walls.
The workshop is $250 per person. Lunch will be provided and sponsored by the Bath Garden Club, the Woolwich Historical Society and the Shelter Institute.
The course instructor is Matthew Carter of Topsham who built his first dry stone wall in 1992. In the 21 year since then, he has built of repaired an estimated 2.5 million pounds of dry stone walls.
Carter studied with master stone-wallers from the United States and Great Britain. In 2007 he was awarded an advanced Level III Certificate from the Dry Stone Walling Association of Great Britain and is a DSWA certified dry stone walling instructor
