Lincoln County Animal Shelter waives adoption fees on adult cats
To combat rising numbers of cats in the shelter, the Lincoln County Animal Shelter is hosting a “Free-Fur-All” special promotion on adult cats one year or older. The adoption fee is waived for adult cats through Sept. 30.
During the mid/late summer, it is typical for animal shelters to see a spike in incoming cats and kittens. Lincoln County currently has nearly 40 cats available for adoption, as well as many dogs.
The shelter is reminding potential adopters as well of the benefits of adopting an adult cat.
The Coastal Humane Society of Brunswick is also running the promotion. The shelter assumed management of Lincoln County operations in July, an arrangement that could become permanent and result in a merger later this fall.
“With so many kittens in the shelter, our adults can sometimes be overlooked — when in fact they make fantastic pets,” said Dr. Mandie Wehr, Director of Shelter Operations for Coastal Humane Society.
“Adult cats are more mature, independent and self-sufficient. They are perfect for people who are at work all day. And you don’t have to kitten proof your home,” added Wehr.
All cats and dogs are spayed or neutered and up-to-date on vaccinations. For more information about adoption, please call 882-9677, visit the shelter at 27 Atlantic Highway, Edgecomb, or see the shelter’s website at www.lcasmaine.org.
The Lincoln County Animal Shelter in Edgecomb cares for approximately 1,500 animals per year.
