The 2024 performance season at Boothbay Harbor’s historic Opera House includes concerts by folk classics, The Brothers Four; legendary songwriter John Hiatt, Grammy winners Jerry Douglas, Alison Brown, and Rodney Crowell, Celtic sensations Gaelic Storm, The Langan Band, Skerryvore, internationally acclaimed Canadian Brass, the Bennewitz Quartet and dozens of others. The coming weeks hold performances by Maine musician Seth Warner and nationally touring artist John McEuen.
The music of Creedence Clearwater Revival will come alive as the Seth Warner Band takes to the stage on Friday, March 29. Seth and his band have performed at the Opera House with Francine Reed, of Lyle Lovett’s Large Band fame. He has also brought the music of Carole King’s “Tapestry” to the stage. Expect to hear Creedence classics including “I Heard it through the Grapevine,” “Lookin’ Out my Backdoor,” and “Proud Mary” - the music of a generation. Calling the evening “Born on the Bayou,” Seth will be joined by Dan Beller-McKenna - pedal steel and dobro, Bruce Coulliard - saxophone, Zac Francis - bass, Andrew Hodgkins - drums, and Marc McElroy - keyboards and guitar. On Saturday, March 30, its music made famous by the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band with the arrival of John McEuen and The Circle Band. John brings with him 45+ years of worldwide performing with his banjo, fiddle, guitar, and mandolin. Often referred to as 'the String Wizard', he weaves stories of his travels and family life, taking the audience along on his musical path. A founding member of the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band in 1966, John instigated the 1972 classic “Will the Circle Be Unbroken” album, (inducted in to the Library of Congress as 'one of America's most important recordings’). He has earned Emmy nominations, Grammy awards, CMA acclaim, The Western Heritage Award, and many other accolades. We welcome him with his Circle Band.
