Camden woman dies after Damariscotta Lake, Jefferson incident
A Camden woman has died as a result of injuries sustained in a boating crash while she was swimming in Damariscotta Lake in Jefferson Thursday, Aug. 2.
Kristen A. McKellar, 32, was swimming with a friend when the incident occurred around 8:45 pm. McKellar was struck by a motorboat operated by Jonathan D. Roberts, 47, of Waban, Massachusetts. Roberts and his passengers immediately attempted to render aid to McKellar and brought her to a nearby shore. EMTs and medical personnel arrived on scene and rendered aid once the boat had come to shore.
The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, The Maine Warden Service, Jefferson Fire and Rescue, and Waldoboro EMS all responded to the incident.
The Maine Warden Service is the primary investigating agency. The investigation into the circumstances of the incident is ongoing.
