Clamshell Quilters to meet April 9
We meet at the Faith Baptist Church on the Mills Road in Newcastle. Guests, visitors, and new members are always welcome. Doors to the church will be open at 2 p.m. for a chat and sew session to work on a community service project or one of your own. Bring something to eat and drink if you plan to stay through the afternoon and the evening program.
The April 9 meeting will start at 5:30 p.m. when Joan Panek from the Pemaquid Watershed Association will join us to discuss our October/November quilt display at the PWA building. Please bring your questions, and volunteer to participate. All ideas are welcome!
Our Camouflaged Log Cabin Block challenge quilts will be revealed. We will be voting for the winners of first, second, and third prizes.
Following the PWA discussion and the challenge reveal, Jan Wooler will show us how to color embroidery work with Crayola crayons. Jan has prepared a kit for this project (for $2 each) which includes the wild rose pattern and floss. You will need to bring hand sewing supplies including an embroidery needle; a 14-inch square of lightweight and light colored cotton fabric, washed and ironed but not treated or starched; a 14-inch square of lightweight batting; and a marking pencil or pen that produces a thin line. Since we will trace our patterns onto fabric, it would be helpful if some folks showed up early (well before 5:30) to share light boxes.
