Covering the region
Things are getting busier around the region as evidenced by the amount of news in this week’s issue. We had to bump up the page count because of the news and advertising amounts. That’s a good thing!
There are a number of stories which you probably wouldn’t read in the daily newspapers because that’s what community newspapers are all about.
Bill Pearson provided a couple of articles – the Patriots’ Day flag flying on Donald Davey Bridge between Wiscasset and Edgecomb and the donkey rescue effort at Burke’s Island Farm – which show the community’s outreach to honor a holiday and to help animals.
Wiscasset stories included the Masons giving away bikes to young readers, a fine tribute to longtime selectman Larry Gordon written by columnist Phil Di Vece, and the fine coverage of the Easter egg hunt by our new news contributor Megan Steele.
Further along in the paper is the story on the Y Dolphins awards night, the two pages of advertising by organizations thanking their volunteers, a preview of the upcoming BRHS play, “Newsies” by our high school news contributor, senior Lilly Curtis, and the announcement that longtime country musician Bobby Reed is being inducted into the Maine Country Music Hall of Fame written by our veteran news contributor Jane Carpenter.
Keep reading ... there’s more “good stuff” in the third section!
We do our best to cover the region on a daily/weekly basis. We think our paper is worth the dollar! Enjoy the news!
