Garden Club of Wiscasset
Members of the club have enjoyed many activities this summer. We ended the year in June with a picnic luncheon at the Morris Farm in Wiscasset. During the meeting, Ester Leck received the Thomas and Lansdale Gardiner Silver Bowl to recognize her generous sharing of her gardening-related skills.
In July, a Garden Tea celebration was held at Nickels-Sortwell House with our friends from Historic New England who were as thrilled as club members at our winning a national award for restoring this historic garden. July also found us participating in Wiscasset's Art Walk.
Members have provided weekly flower arrangements to Wiscasset Public Library and continue to maintain and help with seven gardens in Wiscasset and surrounding towns.
Our next meeting is at 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 6 in the Fellowship Hall at First Congregational Church, 28 High St. in Wiscasset. The program, “Bees in Your Maine Backyard,” will be presented by Jean Vose, Master Gardener volunteer educator. Refreshments follow the program and the public is invited free of charge.
