Homeownership education course offered
Coastal Enterprises, Inc. (CEI), a nonprofit community development organization, with the support of Maine State Housing Authority, will offer the First-Time Homebuyer Seminar, a two-day Homeownership Education Course, on Saturdays, March 28 and April 4, from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Coastal Enterprises, Inc., 36 Water Street, Wiscasset.
The purpose of the Homeownership Education Course is to help people prepare for and be well informed about the process of buying a home. Purchasing a home is the largest financial transaction most people ever make, and it is one of the best ways to build equity for the future. A well-informed consumer is in the best position to plan successfully and to make good decisions. Seminar topics include evaluating your credit and what price home you can afford; budgeting and money management; selecting and working with real estate agent, home inspections, types of available mortgages, including Maine Housing, VA, Rural Development; and the closing process and post-closing considerations. Participants must complete all four sessions and will receive a Certificate of Completion.
Pre-registration is required and there is a $30/person or $50/couple (or co-buyer) non-refundable charge for the two-day seminar. Registrations will NOT be accepted after March 20th.
