Leslie H. Whitehouse
Leslie House Whitehouse, 80, of East Boothbay, was called home to her Lord, with her loving family by her side on Nov. 1, 2023.
Leslie was born Sept. 7, 1943, in Lynchburg, Virginia, the only child of Fred Pittman House and Martha Foster House. She grew up in Lynchburg and graduated from E.C. Glass High School, the class of 1961. She received her B.A in English and Education from Longwood College in Farmville, Virginia in 1965. She married Lawrence “Lanny” Whitehouse III in April 1966.
Leslie taught English in Virginia, Kentucky, Ohio and Pennsylvania. She later taught preschool at Christ United Methodist Church in Lansdale, Pennsylvania. She was a long-time member of the Christ United Methodist Church where she served as a trustee, chair of the Kitchen Committee, coordinator for the Manna on Main Street, and Community Housing Families. She also attended Wilson Memorial Chapel in Ocean Point, where she served as president, vice president, and wedding coordinator. She was a member of East Boothbay United Methodist Church and also a supporter of Ocean Point Colony Trust.
She and her family resided in Lansdale, Pennsylvania for 32 years. She and her family spent summers at their family cottage in Ocean Point for many years. Leslie will be remembered as a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed playing cards, attending her book club, Bible study, knitting club, flowers and gardening.
She was predeceased by her parents, Uncle Doris (Aunt Evie) Dillard, and Uncle Charles Leslie Foster, her namesake.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years Lawrence “Lanny” Whitehouse III of Boothbay Harbor; sons, Jim (Kelly) Whitehouse of Lancaster, Pennsylvania and Matthew (Denise) Whitehouse of Springfield, Massachusetts; grandchildren Logan and Hannah Whitehouse and great-grandson Holden Whitehouse.

A service to celebrate Leslie’s life will be held in the summer of 2024 with date to be announced.
