On to the playoffs!
With only one more game against the Miami Dolphins on Sunday, Jan. 9 at 4:25 p.m. – thankfully it isn’t “a win and you’re in, or lose and go home” situation, the Mac Jones-led New England Patriots are back in the NFL playoffs!
Aren’t we glad that Bill Belichick said “so long” to Cam Newton at the start of the season? The days were numbered for quarterback Cam, anyway, and although starting a rookie at that position is always questionable (not many have been successful this year or in the past), the Patriots system seemed to be the right time for Mac to step under center.
Not going to say he is the second coming of G.O.A.T. Tom Brady – that’s Greatest Of All Time for you non-sports fans – but Mac is looking pretty confident leading the Pats. Let’s hope the defense keeps playing well and perhaps we can get a win (or two) when the playoffs commence.
The American Football Conference looks pretty tough but with the virus protocols keeping players off the field, anything could happen (and the Pats could be hit with the virus spread … please, no!).
But at least the team will show up and hopefully give us a few shades of “Brady time,” who pulled out another last-minute win on Sunday against the Jets.
