Teaching and tasting at Morris Farm Nov. 15
Restock your fridge with life! Lacto-Fermentation is an ancient food preservation technique that helps repair a stressed digestion and helps maintain a healthy one.
Packed with probiotics, lacto-fermented foods give a welcome boost to the immune system and are an excellent source of vitamins and beneficial enzymes. And what's more, they add flavor galore to meals.
Mark Saxl of Gracie's Garden will be our guide Nov. 15 into the tantalizing world of lacto-fermented veggies, and in addition to laying out some scrumptious samples, will be discussing their health benefits and how to prepare them yourself.
Gracie's Garden produces an incredible array of lacto-fermented vegetables, offering them for sale at various farmers' markets and natural food stores in Midcoast Maine.
Saxl won The People's Choice Best Pickle award at the second annual Fermentation Festival held in Boston this year.
The class begins at 3 p.m. with a potluck dinner to follow. Suggested donation of $8 (to go towards the completion of the Morris Farm's commercial/educational kitchen).
