The Ten Commandments: Trump’s report card
Dear Editor:
The former president and failed coup leader has “many Bibles at home” and calls it “my favorite book,” but does he “ace”’ this scriptural test of moral rectitude? Here is how he struggles with the Ten Commandments:
I Failed: Narcissist Trump is his own god and that of his MAGAts.
II Failed: His idols are legion: the gilded casinos and resorts; dictators and cage-fighters.
III Failed: His Christ-like martyr / redeemer complex and the $59.95 Trump Bible.
IV Failed: Golf on Easter; “Now that he is no longer president, he doesn’t have to go to church.”
V Passed: Photos of Fred and Mary behind the Resolute Desk.
VI Failed: Involuntary manslaughter: Reckless rhetoric and promotion of racism leading to deaths in Charlottesvillle and during the January 6 assault on Congress.
VII FAILED: Serial adultery has degraded all three of his marriages.
VIII Failed: Stiffing contractors has enriched his businesses; his fraudulent claims to insurance and banking corporations are criminal; and he is afraid to make his IRS returns public.
IX FAILED: In just four years as president, he made 30,573 false or misleading statements and those were just the publicly documented ones. His new mantra is The Big Lie of a “stolen election.”
X FAILED: Pathologically coveting perpetual power, he incited thugs to overthrow the U.S. government.
Clearly, this Sunday-school dropout should be anathema to Evangelical voters, yet he takes their support for granted. We will see how the wicked fare on judgment day, Nov. 5.
