Three things
Here’s hoping we saw the Boston Celtics win their 18th NBA Championship on Monday night. My earliest memory of the Celtics winning a championship was when Bill Russell, John Havlicek and company defeated the Los Angeles Lakers in LA in 1969 in seven games. The LA Forum was ready to explode with balloons with a victory but the Celtics edged Jerry West, Wilt Chamberlain and company, 108-106. It was awesome! Researching back, it was the Celtics’ 11th championship.
Here’s hoping, too, that everyone stays as cool as they can and remains safe later this week as a “heat dome,” as TV is calling it, moves into our region. Not going to like it as I prefer this past weekend’s temperatures around 70F. Lawn mowing and washing away the pollen from cars, the deck and deck furniture were done. Getting a jump on the copy for this week’s early deadline was done as well.
Congratulations to all the Boothbay Region and Wiscasset high school and eighth grade graduates. Thank you to everyone who helped the newspaper staff by supplying information on awards, names, etc. We do our best with the small staff and time constraints, so all the help was very much appreciated. Good luck graduates and have a fun and safe summer.
