Trove of tips
Besides reporting on projects underway, what area residents have won or otherwise accomplished and the latest tax or sewer rates, we regularly get to pass along tips or other information on public safety.
It is one of the best and most important aspects of news. And we hope you consider these items must-reads.
Two examples this week are News Contributor Jane Carpenter’s piece, “Fire chiefs: Fireworks, burning, drought don’t mix,” on the drought’s impact as a fire risk; and Editor Kevin Burnham’s article, “School committee hears about LCSO’s rapid response training program.” Sheriff’s Lt. Brendan Kane tells about a program that helps law enforcement and schools or other settings prepare for a shooter or other violence. The article lists straightforward strategies for surviving such situations.
News does more good the more people it reaches. We’ll share these stories’ links on wiscassetnewspaper’s Facebook page. Maybe you will see fit to share them, too.
Week’s positive parting thought: Long sleeves in the early morning this week then giving way to the short sleeves each day help us appreciate what’s left of summer.
