Vehicle-pedestrian accident claims Whitefield man; driver is Nobleboro resident
On July 9 at approximately 5 p.m., the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office responded to a fatal motor vehicle accident on Head Tide Road in Whitefield. The investigation showed that Eric Sroka, 38, of Nobleboro was southbound in his 2004 Ford Ranger and Christopher Simpson, 64, of Whitefield was crossing Head Tide Road retrieving his mail.
When the vehicle came around a bend, Simpson was in the roadway. Sroka was unable to avoid Simpson, and Simpson was struck. He died at the scene.
The accident was reconstructed by a Brunswick Police Accident Reconstructionist.
Speed and alcohol are not believed to be factors in this accident. The Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by Whitefield Fire, Delta Ambulance, Life Flight of Maine and Brunswick Police Department.
