Veterans banners and last day of classes
Driving around the region and seeing the veterans’ banners should make residents proud. Having covered the Memorial Day parades for decades, it’s great to reminisce about the times we have come in contact with these veterans, either during Memorial Day or otherwise. Many of the pictured people provided community service after their military service – and some still do.
Thank you to the Veterans Banners committee, and specifically organizer Jim Singer, for honoring our military service members. Remember to thank a veteran for their service.

The Boothbay Region High School Class of 2024 is finishing its classes this week and is preparing for a busy two weeks of events (see article in this week’s issue).
Members of the class are also honored with banners which are hung on poles near the Boothbay Common.
We wish them, as well as their counterparts at Wiscasset Middle High School, the best in the years to come and ask them to be safe during this celebratory time.
Personally, I find it hard to believe that four years have passed for some of the young ladies I covered during their seasons participating in the BRHS field hockey program. Good luck and it was a pleasure to cover your successes.
