Westport Column: Pancakes, pottery and more
Hello friends and neighbors!
According to all reports, the recent Pancake Breakfast hosted by the Westport Community Association was a huge success! Over 100 folks turned out to help make this event happen. Volunteers were kept busy mixing batter, cooking pancakes, serving hungry eaters, and filling beverages. Attendees were happy to enjoy some blueberry or chocolate chip flaps with a beverage of choice while lingering to catch up with friends and make some new acquaintances. Happily no one rioted despite a slow coffee brewing process! Volunteer in charge Dick Barker was pleased with the hard working crew who turned out. Special thanks to event and season sponsor G & D Cromwell for supporting this endeavor.
Thanks to about 20 volunteers, Westport Island now has a truckload less of trash and recyclables on it. Last Saturday the Conservation Commission supplied enthusiastic Westporters with coffee and snacks before sending them out in neon vests with pokers and bags to help make the Island cleaner and greener. All volunteers were gifted with a snappy canvas shopping bag sporting the Island logo. If you helped the effort but forgot your gift, contact Dick Tucker at 882-7965. If you are a walker, please help maintain a clean, green space in your travels. Thanks to all who do their part regularly!
