Wiscasset Feed Our Scholars
What a gorgeous day for Wiscasset’s Feed Our Scholars’ first Touch-A-Truck event. All those in attendance seemed to have a wonderful time. Happy little faces were everywhere as horns were beeped, steering wheels were grabbed, and people gawked at a big dump truck that sat behind a matching very little dump truck, both with their dumpers up: parent and baby trucks.
Great thanks to those who selflessly gave of their time and talent…and their vehicles. Excitement radiated from faces young and old as they explored and experienced vehicles courtesy of the Maine Army National Guard, Colby and Gale Inc., Wiscasset Ford, Frank Jr. and Sons Trucking, Inc, the Wiscasset Ambulance Service, the Wiscasset Police Dept., James and Brett Osmand Race Cars, the Wiscasset Schools’ bus, Clayton Hoak and his antique trucks, B & M Motorsports, Ward & Sons Racing, the Jordan Construction Co., and especially to Vanessa and Richard Jordan, owners of Wiscasset Speedway, for their gracious hosting of the event.
Gratitude, also, to Darling’s Ice Cream for a Cause truck which was enthusiastically patronized at least once by many, and to PIE who donated all their proceeds from their snack table. Duck Puddle Graphic Designs created our cheery flyer for which we are most appreciative. We hope that all will take part again next year for Touch-A-Truck event number 2.
But wait; there’s more! Save the dates: a bake sale at Ames Supply on Sat., Dec. 8, and a cabin fever relieving paint party at St. Philip’s Church on Fri., Feb. 8. All monies raised from each event goes to buy food through Good Shepherd Food Bank for children living in food-insecure situations who attend Wiscasset schools.
