Cumberland County District Attorney Jonathan Sahrbeck announced Sept. 11 that on Sept. 9, a Cumberland County grand jury returned an indictment against Joshua King, 32, of Wiscasset, alleging 25 counts of Unlawful Sexual Contact, a Class B felony, five counts of Unlawful Sexual Touching, a Class D misdemeanor, and five counts of Assault, a Class D misdemeanor.

Arraigned on the indictment in Cumberland County Unified Court Sept. 12, King pleaded not guilty to all the charges, Sahrbeck said. King has bail conditions to continue living at his Wiscasset address, have no contact with anyone under 18, and abide by a Maine Pretrial Services contract, Sahrbeck said. He said King has a dispositional conference Dec. 19.

The indictment listing the charges is based on allegations stemming from evidence presented to the grand jury. These allegations involve evidence that King had been employed as a music teacher at a music school in Brunswick. A minor stated King had been touching her in an inappropriate sexual manner on a regular basis since approximately 2017.

King’s employment has since been terminated. After he was initially charged in early 2019, law enforcement received additional information from another minor who also disclosed allegations that King had been allegedly having inappropriate contact with her. The case has been investigated by members of the Brunswick Police Department and the Cumberland County District Attorney’s Office.

The case is being handled by Assistant District Attorney Jonathan Liberman and Victim Assistant Kim O’Neill.
