Wiscasset firefighter taken to hospital with cut thumb

A Wiscasset Ambulance Service ambulance took a Wiscasset firefighter to a Brunswick hospital Wednesday night, Aug. 8 with a thumb injury he got during hydrant training at Maine Yankee, Fire Chief T.J. Merry said.
Asked about the extent of the injury, Merry said the firefighter will at least need stitches. He was being treated at MidCoast Hospital where he was taken after the approximately 7 p.m. incident, Merry said. He said the firefighter cut his thumb when a door shut on it.
He declined to name the firefighter.
