Convicted murderer goes to Wiscasset jail after alleged knife incident
Mark Gessner, 54, of Augusta, convicted in the 1994 murder of Bath florist Melvin Henderson, was arrested in Bath Sunday, Oct. 21 and charged with Criminal Threatening with a Dangerous Weapon, a Class C Crime. The alleged weapon was a knife.
On Sunday at approximately 11:48 a.m., Bath police responded to 524 High St. for a reported threatening incident. Officers arrived on scene within a few minutes. After interviewing several people involved, police arrested Gessner.
The arresting officers took Gessner directly to Two Bridges Regional Jail in Wiscasset. His court date is set for 1 p.m. Dec. 4 at West Bath District Court. Gessner is a patient of Riverview Psychiatric Center and was on an unsupervised authorized leave. His committal to Riverview is related to his murder conviction.
