Manwich sliders, a.k.a. ‘The Richwich’
As many people in this town are hoping and praying for sunshine, wow, we have we gotten a lot of rain.
We need to remember April showers brings May flowers.
May 1 is this week and I remember when we were kids we always made May baskets. Do they still do that? We also did the Maypole … What fond memories growing up in a small town where everyone knew your name. We would make May baskets at home or in school, fill them with candy and give them to each other. (LOL) Some of the boys would give you a basket then chase ya around on the playground. Oh, the good ole days!
What’s cooking … well as everyone knows my hubby loves hamburger. For the last 20 years, he’s been asking me to make Manwiches you know the canned stuff you buy then add to your burger … yuck. Nope won’t do it, haven’t done it. So I got thinking about making my own version of “The Richwich,” a.k.a. Manwich, and came up with this ...
Two pounds of burger fresh from Pinkham’s, two tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce - or three depending on your taste buds, two tablespoons of light brown sugar, one cup of chili sauce or ketchup, pepper, a half cup of water, and one onion. I always start with sautéing my onion first in a little drizzle of EVO, add my burger and brown it up, and I always drain what little fat there is off just because Richard and I are trying to be good ... key word “trying” ... OK, now add all ingredients from above and let simmer. While simmering, I get this garlic butter out and toast the slider rolls. Make sure you pile on the burger so it makes a mess.
I will say I did have two, not my most favorite thing, but my hubby was happy and said I could make those again.
I think longtime relationships are all about give and take. My husband does so much for his family and for our little peninsula. We, after 20 years of togetherness, deserve the “Richwich.”
Hope everyone had a great weekend and cheers to a fabulous week … Hope to see lots of kiddos on Wednesday for free soccer.
Fish is in our future.
Be kind and enjoy life … Live, love and laugh!
