UPDATE: Sagadahoc makes arrest in alleged store robbery
UPDATE: Sagadahoc County Sheriff’s Office announced Sunday night, through the course of his investigation, Sgt. Dale Hamilton was able to identify Dakota J. Madore, 22, of Monmouth as the suspect in the alleged Aug. 25 robbery at Bowdoin Country Store. Hamilton got an arrest warrant and, at about 4:30 p.m. Aug. 30, Maine State Police identified Madore during a traffic stop.
The new press release states Madore was arrested on the warrants charging Robbery (Class A) and violation of probation. He was transported to Androscoggin County Jail where he awaits a court appearance.
Original post: At 12:54 p.m. Sunday Aug. 25, Sagadahoc County Regional Communications Center received a hold up alarm at Bowdoin Country Store, 1076 Main St. in Bowdoin. Sheriff’s Sergeant Dale Hamilton responded and determined the clerk had been held up by a man wearing a baseball style cap and a kerchief style mask. The suspect was also brandishing a knife. The suspect stole an undetermined amount of cash. No one was injured during the robbery.
The suspect fled the scene, north on Litchfield Road, on foot. A witness saw a man wearing a mask running towards, and then getting into, a silver four-door sedan which then drove off north on Litchfield Road.
The suspect is described as a white male about 5’10” to 5’11” and around 170 pounds. His hair color and age are undetermined. He was wearing grey jeans and white sneakers and had on a jacket with a black upper half and a blue lower half.
A Bath Police Department K-9 unit and a Maine State Police trooper, among others, searched the area for the suspect and did not find him.
