'The Sea Around Us' Home and Garden Tour
The Boothbay Peninsula will be the setting for the Boothbay Region Garden Club’s Home and Garden Tour Saturday, August 11 from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Preparing for this picturesque event is Garden Club member Gail Nassif. From her cottage style home and multiple gardens on Southport, views of Capitol Island, Burnt Island, Ocean Point and Negro Island can be enjoyed from the airy, open kitchen, dining area and shade gardens. The gardens have slowly evolved from a wooded lot and feature perennial plants for shade and ledge.
A delightful example of what can be done to individualize a dwelling in a condominium community is another of the homes on the tour, which boasts a “Coffin Door” from the 1700s used as a spice rack and custom made décor, various antiques and works of art throughout the home. The sunroom opens onto a vista of gardens with flowering trees and shrubs.
“The Sea Around Us” Home and Garden tour benefits the Civic Development projects of the Boothbay Region Garden Club. Tickets for the tour of five homes and gardens plus three additional gardens are available at the Boothbay Harbor Chamber of Commerce for a cost of $20 advanced sales and $25 on the day of the tour. Refreshments will be available at the Linekin Bay resort from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
