Indictments include drug trafficking charge following 2019 Jefferson death
A Lincoln County grand jury rose March 11 with an indictment charging an Augusta woman with trafficking a drug the charge claims contributed to a death.
The single-count indictment alleges on or about last April 18, Brooke V. Olum, 30, trafficked in cocaine base, a schedule W drug, “and death was in fact caused to Austin Bond by the use of one or more scheduled drugs and the schedule W drug trafficked by the defendant was a contributing factor to the death ...”
According to Lincoln County Sheriff’s Detective Scott Hayden’s January affidavit, Bond was found dead in a Jefferson home April 18. The medical examiner’s report gave the cause of Bond’s death as acute intoxication due to the combined effects of cocaine, heroin, fentanyl, acetyl fentanyl and citalopram, the affidavit states.
Olum faces a Class A charge of aggravated trafficking in scheduled drugs.
