DOT physicals available at Health Center
Good news for local commercial truck drivers! You no longer have to drive far to get your Maine Department of Transportation medical exam. They are now available in Boothbay Harbor.
Commercial truck drivers need to have a Maine DOT physical exam and receive medical certification and a DOT medical card. These exams must be completed at least once every two years. Last year, there was a grace period in effect during COVID-19, but that grace period ends Feb. 28.
Not to worry. By March 1, Andy Zuber, physician's assistant at the Boothbay Region Health Center will be a certified medical examiner for the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) and he will be happy to perform your exam right here in Boothbay Harbor.
These DOT exams include a physical exam, including blood pressure, diabetes, eye exam, hearing exam, and urinalysis. If required by your employer, a urine drug test can also be performed for an additional fee.
A DOT physical exam is valid for up to 24 months. The medical examiner may also issue a medical examiner's certificate for less than 24 months when it's desirable to monitor a condition, such as high blood pressure.
Call the Boothbay Region Health Center (207) 633-1075 to schedule your DOT exam. The Health Center is located at 185 Townsend Ave., Boothbay Harbor, in the Meadow Mall across from the Hannaford supermarket.
