Embarrassing moments
I was going to write about my week, day-by-day, from Wednesday through Tuesday, but I thought I would spare you the monotony and just tell you about an embarrassing moment. It was not on the scale of Will Smith slapping Chris Rock at the Oscars (whose side are you on?), but I was still a bit horrified when it happened.
Thankfully, embarrassing moments don’t happen too often (at least to me they don’t) but I have experienced a few, as I am sure you have had them, too.
On Friday morning, I wanted/needed a second cup of coffee so I walked over to Baker’s Way. The tables were filled with people and one person was waiting for his food at one of the counters. I filled the cup with my coffee, put the lid on, and went to pay at the pastry display. I put the cup on the counter so I could get my wallet … only my aim was a bit off. There is a lip on the pastry display case and, yes, in my haste, I put the cup half on the lip and half on the glass top ... and it tipped over! Sixteen ounces of light brown liquid started covering the glass. Luckily, there was a stack of napkins on the glass so I started to sop up the coffee. Then an employee came out of the kitchen and quickly finished the clean-up with some paper towels without saying a word. The staff member didn’t ask — she actually made sure I filled my cup again — but I paid for two coffees.
Guess I wasn’t quite awake – perhaps that’s why I wanted/needed that second cup of coffee!
Here are some synonyms for embarrassed (besides horrified, which I have already used): ashamed, uncomfortable, disconcerted, mortified and humiliated.
Yes. I felt all of those after that incident!
