Is it just me or have you seen more varieties of birds and more birds in general this month? Perhaps if I hung out at my in-laws’ house I would see even more as they have a virtual aviary set up on their side lawn...six, seven or eight bird feeders. On Sunday, it looked like school cafeteria feeding time out there – with the gray squirrels cleaning up the droppings!

However, on my daily walks with the dog, I have seen the usual crows, robins, finches, sparrows, chickadees and gulls. But there have also been a couple of hawks and cardinals (at least I think those red birds hiding in the trees or streaking across the sky are cardinals). I am sure there are other familiar birds I have missed because my dog needs to be watched while walking as she likes to bark and lunge at vehicles.

It is nice to see so many birds. Someday, I will leave the dog at home and just enjoy the sounds and sights around my neighborhood.

Speaking of birds … I had to chase the great blue heron – featured on page 1 – around Mill Cove to get the photograph I wanted. Those birds are easily spooked and tough to photograph sometimes, especially in flight.

The series between the Boston Celtics and Milwaukee Bucks has been a bruising affair. Giannis Antetokounmpo (yes, I had to copy and paste his name), the Bucks’ star player, has handed out a few elbows, head and shoulder “moves” against the Celtic players, knocking them down most of the time, but Boston isn’t backing down, despite the missed calls by the officials. I like Boston’s toughness and Monday’s game showed they are determined to move on to the next round of the playoffs.

Maybe it is because I am older, but when is the wind going to slow down … or stop! Makes the 50F days seem like 40s!
