Politics, baseball and fall
If you haven’t made up your mind on who and what you are voting for on Nov. 8, read the two-plus pages of letters in this issue and perhaps you can be convinced.
We try to provide all the letters that arrive to our email inbox in our print version but we give priority to the most local writers first. We also have a deadline for letters to the editor because our resources (people to work on each issue) are especially low right now and we try to avoid letter-writing campaigns the week of an election. We also don’t have the time to check every statement written as fact, but we do accept people’s opinions as long as the opinions are not libelous.

The World Series – Houston Astros vs. Philadelphia Phillies – who do you like? I am not surprised with Houston being in the Fall Classic as I thought they had better pitching than the New York Yankees – which proved to be right. The Phillies got on a roll late in the season and in the playoffs and after the San Diego Padres disposed of this season’s winningest team, the Los Angeles Dodgers, it wasn’t too surprising, at least to me, that the Phillies would take advantage of the up-and-down Padres.
My pick? Houston in six games.

Fall has been pretty good … Average foliage on the coast, daytime temperatures bearable and a slower pace than summer. Plus, we have gotten some rain to help fill the wells.
We turn the clocks back on Nov. 6, Election Day is two days after that, Veterans Day is Nov. 11 and I am hoping to enjoy some days off from work to rake, rake and rake some more before Thanksgiving. Oh, the joys of fall.
Have a great week.
