A few words from our ....
Readers? Supporters? Critics?
We are the public's voice, the mirror on what the public does and does not do, so it stands to reason that the public is in contact with us throughout the year via email, phone calls, letters and in the supermarket.
Our readers don't hesitate to point out our mistakes (misspellings, misquotes, etc.), suggest story ideas and ask us questions about our operation.
The newspaper's supporters are most gracious when we publish important information, interesting stories and great photographs. We save all these emails and letters from our supporters to keep us motivated to do our jobs well. Keep those pats on the back coming!
Our critics are just as important as our supporters. We are human and we are a small staff that does its best to tell you, the readers, what is going on in your communities. We do make mistakes and we do miss stories. In a perfect world, we would have investigative reporters, education and waterfront reporters, sports and court reporters, etc. You get the gist. We also must work faster than before the internet took hold as you, the readers, want the story ASAP, like that fast food order you placed.
In closing, we hope nothing changes because it shows that the newspaper remains important in the lives of the many who read it, either online or on Wednesday night or Thursday after it is printed. Keep showing your support verbally or financially, let us know about story ideas, and don't hesitate to keep us on our toes!
