It’s happening!
What, you may ask, is happening? News and lots of it!
Thursday, May 25 at 6 p.m. in the Boothbay Region High School gymnasium is the annual CSD budget meeting. Hopefully voters will turn out to discuss the articles as the region is deciding on the future of education with new schools being considered, next year’s proposed budget increasing by 15%, many repairs still needed to be done on the elementary school, and more.
Speaking of schools, graduation is right around the corner and the 40 seniors will be busy finishing up their final days at BRHS. The seniors’ last day is May 31, then marching practice for graduation and the Grand March, as well as the annual Rotary Dinner, begin the next day. They have a Field Day scheduled for June 2, the Alumni/Masonic Cookout June 4 (rain date June 6), Awards Night June 7, Grand March June 8, and Class Day, graduation, and car parade on June 8. We’ll be there for extensive coverage of most of these events.
Summer businesses have reopened/are reopening, the Eastside Waterfront Park controversy continues, the footbridge construction continues, we’re still waiting to hear if the MDOT will fix Route 27, and more. We’ll continue to follow these stories as they develop.
Congratulations to the John “Jolly” Arsenault family for the honor bestowed on the late Sewer District founder. Congratulations to BRHS Principal Tricia Campbell for earning her doctorate. And congratulations to the BRHS tennis teams for outstanding seasons.
It’s a busy time of year. I hope everything goes well for everyone.
