Closing in on Nov. 7, Wiscasset may revise its months old cannabis ordinances. As we have reported, this would tweak where the businesses can go, including fixing an error officials said would let the shops go anywhere except safe zones such as near schools and churches. 

I have heard no opposition to the proposed changes, but any ballot question, big or small, is decided by those who take the time to vote. So, do.

Whether or not you plan to wear a costume for Halloween, this is the time of year to wear orange. If you are anywhere anyone might be hunting, help avoid tragedy, and get your orange on.

This week’s positive parting thought: By press time Tuesday, 14 people had reacted to our Facebook post on last week’s news the chili/chowder challenge and pumpkin dessert contest, set to be part of ScarecrowFest, was canceled due to low participation. Fourteen is not more than 14, but this at least suggests there is still a public appetite for the contest to continue in subsequent years.
