Read and learn
Please take a few minutes to read Arts Editor Lisa Kristoff’s online piece “What’s a healthy relationship, anyway?,” timed with National Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month. The examples may remind you or your teen of words or actions they have been on the receiving end of; ask him or her what they thought of the article.
The piece and the video clips that appear with it on our websites could help you to help your child know what to watch out for when dating, as in, what is not OK; and if they are in such a relationship, the discussion could be a start to finding help.
As always, Kristoff’s latest article on domestic violence includes straightforward information on the topic, and how to learn more or seek help.
The article is about a four-minute read plus the two videos, neither longer than a minute.
Got time?
Week’s positive parting thought: Make that two – first, congratulations to one of Wiscasset’s own, the determined and multi-talented Anna McDougal, on making Maine Sports Hall of Fame! Good call by the Hall; and second, so glad Punxsutawney Phil did not see his shadow last week. Winter, begone! By the time this publishes, I will be on my second vacation this winter and the forecast is for far better weather than the first one. Thanks, Punxsutawney Phil, and to Editor Kevin Burnham for covering for me for the Feb. 15 edition!
