Good morning … thankfully
Before opening my eyes Tuesday morning, I was dreaming it was 8:30 a.m., that I didn’t have to go to work (I think I smiled in my dream state) … then I opened my eyes, turned over and looked at the clock – 5:15. Darn!
Tossed off the covers, put my feet on the floor, then proceeded to the bathroom.
Shaving is sometimes a dangerous undertaking if you’re not fully awake. Luckily I was awake enough to see that I had spread the shaving cream slightly onto my ear lobe. Before continuing to run the razor over my face, I used my other hand to wipe away the shaving cream from my ear lobe. Several times in the past I have tried to “shave” the cream away, resulting in a nick and blood flow.
On to the shower – Everything went fine until I noticed that one of the curtain hooks had come undone. So I turned off the water and grabbed the dangling hook before it came loose from the curtain. I didn’t want to chase it if it fell on the floor or in the shower. Got that fixed and proceeded to grab my towel – only to realize that I hadn’t washed my hair. So I turned the water back on, grabbed the shampoo and got that job done.
Got dressed and made the bed without any incidents. Sometimes, however, I have to avoid stepping on one of the cats which regularly plops down at the foot of the bed in the morning. I guess he tests whether I am awake enough to do the job right.
Headed to the kitchen to pack my lunch and pour a cup of coffee into my travel mug – as I write this at work, I just realized that I had forgotten to take a pill I take in the morning. Perhaps I should have had my cup of coffee first. Oh well, the morning ritual was almost perfect.
Good morning, good afternoon and good night – we all hope that our days are filled with such!
Have a good week!
