Annual plant sale in Wiscasset May 7
The Garden Club of Wiscasset will hold its annual plant sale on Saturday, May 7, from 8:30 a.m. until noon, indoor/outdoor at the Wiscasset Municipal Building located on the corner of routes 1 and 27. There will be baked goods and garden related White Elephant items. The event willl be held rain or shine.
The plant sale is the major fundraiser supporting scholarship and community projects. The garden club, yearly, donates a scholarship to a high school senior from surrounding towns pursuing a higher education in horticultural or related studies.
Our members maintain or help to maintain the Coastal Cancer Treatment Center Serenity Garden in Bath, the Wiscasset Library Gardens, the Sunken Garden in Wiscasset, the Pownalborough Courthouse Garden in Dresden and the Nickels-Sortwell Garden in Wiscasset.
Club members will be selling perennial plants including peonies, bleeding hearts, hostas, day lilies and phlox. Shrubs include forsythia, climbing hydrangea and lilacs. These plants and shrubs are supplied from the gardens of the clubs more than 90 members as well as local gardens willing to share their plants. If you want to contribute plants, garden club members will do the digging.
Anyone interested in sharing their plants or for more information, call either Charlene Sassi, 563-6054, or Priscilla Hansen, 882-6379.
