Warm and cozy
Our well water is pretty cold; it's a deep drilled well. Even in the height of summer it's quite refreshing.
This time of year, after it sits all night in the water line, it's down right paralyzing. I know this because each morning upon waking, I go to the sink in the bathroom and splash cold water on my face. Lately, the splash nearly tore off my eyebrows.
All of a sudden the rhododendron are less anxious to bloom prematurely and the birch buds have stopped swelling. I am, and it is, considerably colder.
So, when I noticed the delightfully cozy scene I've shared this week, I was warmed. I hope I didn't look like some stalker peering out of the night. The image did require a rather long exposure. But in the howling wind, blowing snow and piercing cold, I couldn't help but wonder about the temperature of their well water.
