Garden Club learns about daylilies
The Garden Club of Wiscasset met January 10 at the First Congregational Church of Wiscasset. The featured speaker was Nick Barth of Barth’s Daylilies was the featured speaker and gave specific information about growing daylilies in Maine.
Barth’s father started the company in 1952 and has been responsible for the hybridization of numerous colors and shapes of daylilies, many of which are available at O’Donnell’s in Gorham.
Following the talk, hostesses Linda Biden, Julie Rea, Peggy Wallace and Sandy Sarmanian provided a delicious tea.
Next month’s meeting will be on February 7 at 12:30 p.m. at the First Congregational Church of Wiscasset. The speaker will be Allison Kanoti, entomologist with the Maine Forest Service, whose topic is Hemlock Health Threats. Tea will follow the program. Guests are always welcome to join us.
