A Chat with News Center Maine’s Don Carrigan
On Monday, Feb. 10, Coastal Senior College is offering the second event in its Winter Brown-Bag Series: A Chat with News Center Maine’s Don Carrigan. The event will be held at St. Andrew’s Church in Newcastle at noon. Refreshments will be served after the Chat.
Don Carrigan has been in the radio and TV broadcasting field for more than 50 years. A native of South Bristol and graduate of Lincoln Academy, Don began his career in radio during his college days in Orono before joining WLBZ-TV-2 in Bangor in the 1970s as a reporter, anchor and photographer. He also worked for WCSH-TV-6, eventually becoming the 6 p.m. anchor and News Director for the two stations collectively known as News Center Maine.
Many of us have long admired Don’s work to bring the stories of life on the Midcoast to so many engaged viewers. Now we have a chance to hear more about his favorite stories, what he’s curious about now, and how he goes about his always colorful and character-filled investigations.
Don is now producing longer stories as a reporter for the “207” magazine-format program on weeknights (Channel 6) at 7. Don still lives in the farmhouse in Walpole where he grew up.
The Coastal Senior College Brown-Bag Series is free to CSC members as a benefit of membership. Sign-up for the Chat with Don Carrigan, as well as membership registration for Coastal Senior College, may be made at coastalseniorcollege.org
Annual membership is open to all and allows adults to register for classes in the fall, winter and spring terms each year.
