Diane Murray
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Diane "Sue" Murray, who passed away peacefully on Jan. 24, 2025, at her home surrounded by cherished friends and the love of her family.
Sue was born on Feb. 3, 1944, in Bloomfield, New Jersey to George Edward Ford and Evelyn Thora Strandvold.
Sue was a bright light in the lives of those who knew her. A proud graduate of Delaware Township High School in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, she embraced life with a passion that resonated through her many talents. From her delicious home-cooked meals and delectable baked goods to the warmth of her knitting and crocheting, Sue shared her gifts with an open heart. Her love for baking was often showcased at the North Nobleboro Days pie table, where family and friends would gather to enjoy her culinary delights. So many in Waldoboro enjoyed her chocolate chip cookies and peanut butter balls at Christmas.
A dedicated 4-H leader and a devoted member of the North Nobleboro Baptist Church, Sue’s influence reached far beyond her own family. She instilled in others the values of kindness, community, and the joy of lifelong learning. She poured her heart into her children whose lives reflect the love and support she gave them.
Sue dedicated countless years to her family and home, crafting a haven of love and laughter for her five children. Her nurturing spirit extended beyond her own household as she spent many fulfilling years working for Lisa and Dana Dow. The bonds she formed with the Dow family were profound, and her gentle touch helped care for their children, affirming her role as a steadfast figure of support in their lives.
Sue will be remembered not only for her nurturing spirit but also for her laughter, her stories, and the way she made everyone feel uniquely valued. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of all who had the privilege to know her.
Sue’s family sends a big thank you to “The Sue Crew” for caring for her in her period of declining health. Their love and support will never be forgotten.
In celebration of her life, a time of visitation will be held on Thursday, Jan. 30 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Hall Funeral Home, 949 Main Street, Waldoboro. A memorial service will be held on Friday, Jan. 31 at 2 p.m. at Hall Funeral Home. Friends and family are invited to join together for a reception immediately following the service at the North Nobleboro Community Center to share stories and laughter, just as Sue would have loved.
