13th Maine Pottery Tour May 3 and 4
The first weekend in May is pottery weekend in Maine! The annual Maine Pottery Tour, set for Saturday, May 3, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, May 4, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. This beloved event invites pottery enthusiasts, art collectors, and curious adventurers alike to experience the creativity and craftsmanship of Maine’s thriving pottery community.
With over 80 participating studios across the state, attendees can embark on a self-guided adventure, using downloadable interactive maps and the brand-new Plan My Tour app available at MainePotteryTour.org. This user-friendly app makes it easy for visitors to customize their own Pottery Tour road trip, ensuring an engaging and memorable experience.
Fine Mess Pottery in Augusta is among the 17 studios in the central region to open their doors for the tour. Fine Mess will offer wheel demos, plates for visitors to paint, and a kiln opening Saturday morning at 11.
Lori Watts, the potter at Fine Mess, says she is looking forward to meeting visitors. “This is my favorite event of the year,” says Watts. “I’m kind of a clay nerd. I love talking to people about the kiln and the ceramic process. Bring your questions!”
"The Maine Pottery Tour helps potters connect directly with their audience, fosters community among artists, educates the public about pottery, and celebrates Maine's vibrant ceramic arts," said the event organizers. Grab your map, invite friends and family, and set out for a weekend filled with exploration, inspiration, and beautiful handmade treasures.
