Santa Claus will be coming to town during Boothbay Harbor’s Holiday Lights Weekend, but in the evenings after Santa has returned to the North Pole to rest, two equally merry guys and their bands will be playing at the historic Opera House in celebration of the season.

Pat Colwell and his band bring a Motown Christmas to town on Friday, Dec. 6 and award-winning singer-songwriter Don Campbell and his band will take to the stage on Saturday, Dec. 7. Tickets on sale now.

Lincoln County Community Theater (LCCT) takes the Lincoln Theater stage once again as they proudly present “Saint Dad,” a heartwarming comedy by acclaimed Maine playwright, award-winning novelist, and memoirist Monica Wood. Join us for this heartwarming and humorous tale about the Casey family and the fictional Maine town of Greeney Lake, as they grapple with faith, family, and forgiveness.

The Boothbay Region Art Foundation (BRAF) is seeking submissions from artists for a themed, non-juried, art exhibit: “Wintering.” This exhibition will showcase the beauty, wonder, and challenges of the winter season through the eyes of local and regional artists.

We invite artists to submit their unique interpretations of winter, whether representative or abstract, in any medium, including but not limited to painting, sculpture, photography, mixed media, ceramics, or digital art.

Maine’s own “American Idol,” singer Julia Gagnon, will bring a special “Home for the Holidays” concert to the Strand Theatre stage on Saturday, Dec. 14 at 7:30 p.m. Julia will be joined by her fiancé and musical partner Nate Haven, along with a six-piece backing band, to sing holiday favorites along with the popular songs that launched her star turn on the hit TV show. 

Thanksgiving is rapidly approaching and is celebrated in a special manner for those of us in New England. It is a day to gather and celebrate with friends and family. The cooks of Midcoast Maine are busy planning their dinners for that special day. Are you a first time Thanksgiving chef or a longtime cook for this holiday?

“Lee” - (R; 1 hour, 57 minutes) - The directorial feature from award-winning cinematographer Ellen Kuras, portrays a pivotal decade in the life of American war correspondent and photographer, Lee Miller (Kate Winslet). Miller’s singular talent and unbridled tenacity resulted in some of the 20th century’s most indelible images of war, including an iconic photo of Miller herself, posing defiantly in Hitler’s private bathtub. Miller had a profound understanding and empathy for women and the voiceless victims of war.

The Windjammer Days Committee is seeking community input. The Committee has selected the United States Coast Guard as the spotlight group for the 2025 event to be held June 22-28.

“The Committee began taking nominations at our meeting this week so there is a small list going already," said WJD committee member Mark Gimbel. "We are looking to gather as many nominees that live in our region or those who were stationed in West Boothbay Harbor.”

Nominees can be current or former active duty personnel, or members of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary.

Friday, Nov. 15 - "Copa 71" at 7 p.m. - The extraordinary story of the 1971 Women’s World Cup, which was held in Mexico City and witnessed by more than 100,000 fans. This landmark tournament was dismissed by FIFA and written out of sports history – until now. "COPA 71" weaves together dazzling archival footage and interviews with the former players. Adult tickets are $10 in advance, $15 on the day of/at the door. Youth tickets are $5.

The Waldo Theatre has announced the three-person cast for its holiday community theatre production of "Every Christmas Story Ever Told (and Then Some!)," a comedic, fast-paced mashup of traditional holiday stories, classic TV productions, holiday films, and worldwide traditions, to be staged at The Waldo Dec. 13-15.

The ensemble cast members are George Bates of Waldoboro, Heidi Holst of Warren, and Jack Sullivan of Waldoboro.

Heartwood Theater will hold student auditions on Monday, Dec. 2 for its annual Winter Theater Adventure, available to all Midcoast middle school students, grades 4-8.

Following the sudden reawakening of their comatose father, siblings Denise, Bud, and Suzanne must convince Leona, the new owner of their longtime family camp, to help them hide the sale from their possibly divine “Saint Dad.”

Geneviève Tailleux, proprietor of Marketplace Café in Wiscasset, is doing a series of benefit dinners for Alna's John Seigars, whose house burned down recently. Tailleux said she has done one dinner already and this Saturday, Nov. 16, there will be a bake sale and, for $15, a spaghetti supper with meatballs, garlic bread, salad and desserts. Coffee, tea, or lemonade is included.

Tailleux said while the price is $15, "guests are welcome to donate more for the cause." And she said another dinner is Dec. 6, with chili and chowders, breads, etc. and the same drinks. 

Heartwood Regional Theater Company, in collaboration with Lincoln Academy, announces student auditions for the Broadway musical "Hadestown" nominated for 14 Tony Awards and winner of eight. This challenging sung-through musical tells the tale of Orpheus and Eurydice, in a unique and compelling style, featuring 14 characters.

“Lost On A Mountain In Maine” - (PG; 1 hour, 55 minutes) – This film brings to life the harrowing true story of Donn Fendler, a 12-year-old boy who survived nine days lost in Maine’s wilderness in 1939. After getting separated on Mount Katahdin, Donn faced terrifying isolation, navigating 80 miles of rugged terrain alone. His survival captivated the nation, earning him a medal from President Roosevelt. Final shows Wednesday, Nov. 13 at 2 p.m. (OCAP) and Thursday, Nov. 14 at 7 p.m.
