Meet the cast of 'Faust in the Anthropocene'
Snowlion Repertory Company 's production of “Faust in the Anthropocene," penned by Al D'Andrea, will debut at The Hill Arts (formerly St. Lawrence Arts) on Monjoy Hill in Portland. The play run in April 4-13.
This groundbreaking and startlingly original new work features “Wisdom Tales from the Land of Snows” woven together with familiar characters from both Faust legend and our own troubled times. Original music by Aaron Robinson will be heard throughout the show, including the rock anthem Kali Yuga (Dark Age).
This show is the perfect lead-in to Earth Day, April 22, as it traces the efforts of eco-activist Zee and her compatriots to bring awareness and resistance to the earth-damaging behavior of billionaire Faust who has made a bargain with the embodiment of his ego, Mara, for limitless power. Zee must find a way to reach Faust and stop his destructive activities. Wandering yogi Shakbar, through parables and teaching tales, offers a glimpse of the only way to find peace and sanity in a world gone mad.
The cast of 14 are: James Noel Hoban, Kim Gordon, Rachael Schuster, Sean Ramey, Harlan Baker, Devin Domeyer, Joshua Flanagan, Carole Florman, Jason Iannone, Kathleen Nation, Isis Phoenix, Joe Quinn, Jesse Reich and Tristan Rolfe.
Performances are 7-9 p.m. Advance tickets are $27 and $32 at the door (while they last!). The Hill Arts is located at 76 Congress St., downtown Portland.
