BRHS Drama Club to present: 'Oklahoma!'
"OOOOOK-lahoma! Where the wind comes sweepin' down the plain, And the wavin' wheat can sure smell sweet, When the wind comes right behind the rain..."
Join the BRHS drama club in a production of "Oklahoma!,” Friday, May 2 at 6 p.m. and Saturday, May 3 at 1 and 5 p.m.
Background for those unfamiliar with the musical: It's the turn of the 20th century and Oklahoma is pre-statehood. The love story between cowboy, Curly and farm girl, Laurey, unfolds against a backdrop of a community's excitement about becoming a state. The story also includes a comic subplot involving Ado Annie ("I Cain't Say No") and Will Parker.
The musical is known for its blend of music, dance, and story, and its impact on the development of the modern musical theatre. This shortened version keeps the integrity of the full show, in less than 90 minutes, including intermission.
Directed by Dr. Mary Miller, with costume and set management by Susan Taylor.
