Everyman Repertory Theatre presents final staged reading
Everyman Repertory Theatre presents its final staged reading in the Forgotten Classics series this year, "Detective Story" by Sidney Kingsley, Saturday, April 12 at 7 p.m. at Pascal Hall, 86 Pascal Ave., in Rockport.
"Detective Story" is set in the squad room of a New York police station.
"It is a fascinatingly realistic picture of a series of routine cases brought into a metropolitan police station in the course of a day,"said Everyman, in a news release.
Out of the mess of human misery, vice, and stupidity, there emerge many, many stories – the young man who has stolen money from his employer. Though a woman who is in love with him comes to his help and the employer is offered everything that has been taken from him, the case has fallen into the hands of McLeod, a hardworking detective whose experience in police work has developed in him a mania for revenge. Nothing will satisfy him but brutal punishment. He is at work at the same time on a case involving an abortionist. But McLeod’s world is about to descend into mayhem in ways he can not begin to imagine.
Cast includes Eva Hopkins, April Rejman, Jennifer Hodgson, Dagney Ernest, Andrea Itkin, Cory Burns, Michael Amico, Paul Hodgson, Erik Perkins, Scott Anthony Smith, Mark Durbin, Jim Reitz, David Greenham, and AnnMarie Lowerre. Directed by Greenham and stage managed by Mary Ann Giasson.
According to Everyman, the last two shows sold out.
Tickets available at everymanrep.org/box-office, at Left Bank Books in Belfast, or call 207-236-0173 to reserve.
