Unity Raceway 75th Anniversary Shows This Weekend

Thu, 10/12/2023 - 2:00pm

Are you ready for some racing? Lincoln County Television is proud to premiere a two-part Unity Raceway 75th Anniversary show this weekend. It features interviews and memories from Maine racing legends, announcers and promoters, as well as fabulous vintage and restored race cars. We are grateful to our friend Pete Silva, co-host of Vintage Racers Round Table and national stock car legend, for asking us to create this show.

Racing fans can watch part 1 on Saturday, Oct.14 at 7:00pm and part 2 on Sunday Oct. 15 at 7:00pm. Both parts will air on local channel 7, LCTV.org, and all streaming services. Or you can watch both parts right now On Demand:

Built in 1948, Unity Raceway is Maine’s oldest track. It reopened in 2022 after a 4-year racing hiatus, with its surface restored to a dirt track after decades of asphalt.

The 75th Anniversary show is hosted by Dan Ayotte, race director, and features interviews, memories, historical photos, and cars. Among the interviews are Unity Raceway legend Norris Willetts, 2016 Maine Motorsports Hall of Famer; Steve Nelson, a ten-time Unity Champion, and 2015 Maine Motorsports Hall of Famer; world famous Unity Raceway announcer George Hale; Bob Knowles, promoter and owner of the Unity Raceway from 1960 to 1980; Ralph Mason, Unity Raceway owner since 1980, and current track promoter Joey Doyen.
