The Camden Snow Bowl is a community owned ski and four-season recreation area. It is managed and operated by the Town of Camden Parks and Recreation Department. From the summit of 1,300-foot Ragged Mountain - home to the Snow Bowl's trails - skiers and riders have an incredible view of the Atlantic Ocean from the summit. It is a view unlike any other on the East Coast. The Snow Bowl really is "Where the mountains meet the sea."
A year-round recreation area, the Camden Snow Bowl also offers hiking, mountain biking, tennis courts, ball fields and a summer youth recreation day-camp program. Fishing, boating and swimming are possible on the tranquil Hosmer pond. And many four-legged friends and their owners are often found recreating together at the Snow Bowl. In the autumn, there are fall foliage chairlift rides and pancake breakfasts. Facility rentals are available all year for parties, weddings, reunions and business meetings and socials.
In addition to alpine skiing and snowboarding, there are many other winter activities available at the Snow Bowl. A thrilling 400-foot-long wood toboggan chute provides fun for all family members, with cross country skiing, snowshoeing and fat tire biking on the mountain's multi-use trails and ice skating on Hosmer Pond. The U.S. National Toboggan Championships are also held here each February.
Three lifts serve 850 feet of vertical terrain. Two chairlifts, and a surface conveyor lift in the beginner area, service as many as 20 runs and two terrain parks. All trails lead back to the Snow Bowl's rustic A-frame lodge, where you can watch the slope action through the wall of windows. The Snow Bowl has a ski and snowboard school, full rental shop, an active youth racing program and a fully qualified ski patrol. Coastal Maine sees its share of big winter storms, but we have a snow-making system that covers 80 percent of our trails, to ensure plenty of skiing and riding. Most trails are groomed daily.
During the regular season (late-December through the end of March), the Snow Bowl is open Wednesday–Friday, 10 a.m.-8 p.m., and Saturday & Sunday, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. The mountain is closed Mondays and Tuesday except for holidays and vacation weeks. Beginning in March, the Snow Bowl is open weekends, and some Fridays, weather permitting.
During the spring, summer and fall, the Parks and Recreation Department and Snow Bowl office is open Monday-Friday, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
