Advent services continue at First Congo of Wiscasset
On Dec. 8, the second Sunday in Advent, the subject of Rev. David Myers’ sermon will be “The Genealogy of Jesus from Adam to Jesus” based on the first 18 chapters of the book of Matthew. The second candle on the Advent wreath, representing Joy, will be lit.
A potluck luncheon will be served following the service, and Rev. Myers’ slides of his trip to the Holy Land will be shown.
On Dec. 15, the third Sunday in Advent, Rev. Myers’ sermon is titled “John the Baptist never won a preaching award.” The choir under the direction of Joel Pierce will perform Christmas selections. The Peace candle on the advent wreath will be lit.
Rev. Myers' sermon on the fourth Sunday in Advent, Dec. 22, “Christmas Fear and Christmas Cheer," will be followed by the lighting of the Love candle.
The Christmas Eve candlelight service on Dec. 24 will begin at 7 p.m.
All services are open to the public. The First Congregational Church is on the Common at 28 High St. in Wiscasset.
