Alfred C. Moses
Alfred C. Moses died Jan. 7, 2025, after a brief illness.
He was born on June 14, 1943 and spent his early childhood in La Oroya, Peru. When he was 7, his family moved to Little Rock, Arkansas and to Richmond, Virginia for his high school years. After graduating from Monmouth College, he worked in the insurance field for many years, before taking early retirement, so that he could help his father, John H. Moses, in Richmond, Virginia and Southport in the summer months.
Eventually Al became a Southport resident and became known as the person who would always lend a helping hand to his neighbors on the island whenever it was needed. Many of his neighbors will smile as they read this, but they also agree that Al always kept confidence about how he might help one person or another.
He was much appreciated and will be missed by his sister, Maggie Moses Gat and his cousins, nieces and nephew, as well as many people in the Boothbay region, whom he befriended or received a helping hand from him.
A Memorial Service will be held in June at All Saints-by-the-Sea.
